Hudson is better known by his chosen name H.R., which stands for Human Rights. He entered the Washington D.C. music scene as a teenager in the late 1970s as the frontman for the iconic hardcore punk band Bad Brains. He is known for his exuberant, aggressive energy, physical performances on stage and for breaking down cultural barriers. After a spiritual and musical awakening he shifted direction, choosing to pursue more mellow vibes, continuing his music career as a reggae musician and starting his eponymous band, Human Rights. H.R. lives with schizoaffective disorder and a rare neurological disorder, SUNCT syndrome, which causes excruciating headaches. He continues to make music and spread the message of positive mental attitude.
