Shot in Paris
Sculptor, poet, and novelist Barbara Chase-Riboud has been building a singular and spectacular body of work ever since she moved to Paris in 1961. Now, at 85-years-old, her art is being shown in the French capital for the first time in 50 years, with a new exhibition titled “Everytime a Knot Is Undone, a God Is Released.” With pieces being displayed across eight different galleries in Paris including Musee D’Orsay, the Louvre, and Centre Pompidou—the first time an artist has been recognized at this scope—the exhibition demonstrates Chase-Riboud’s immense influence. “I had no idea of being the main character in anything,” she says. “My whole life, I’d been sort of the bystander.”
