@nolwennbrod ’s photographic series "Le temps de l'Immaturité" - on view until December 20 at @galerie_c - portrays youth whose bodies navigate the discomfort of political and social tensions. Following in the footsteps of Polish writer Witold Gombrowicz (1904–1969), from Poland to Argentina via Paris and Vence, she grounds her work in his guiding notion of the Time of Immaturity.
Rooted in contemporary social realities and in the long memory of history, her photographs reveal a present where immaturity unfolds in action. Memory and pain surface on the skin of those she portrays, in subtle and complex ways.
Her images fuse sensitivity, desire, and sensuality into a shared present marked by both rawness and grace. Religious ecstasy mingles with intensity; violence brushes against softness.
Brod’s practice is one of tact—a way of seeing without intrusion. Her gaze, both caring and direct, approaches closely enough to reveal without wounding.
