We are still in the process of catching our breaths, but we are ELATED to share with you.... FILMING IS COMPLETE! On September 18–20 this year, after a mere 5 months of intense fundraising and planning, we stretched our imagination and resources to transform Highline Stages in the Meatpacking District into Café Tabac and the early ’90s. It was an extraordinary opportunity to build a vision together with our community, drawing over 50 cast members and dozens of crew from both Café Tabac alumnae and the wider intergenerational LGBTQ community.
The experience is one that will live forever in our hearts, on the big screen, and in future archives. The spirit of the original Café Tabac party—the electricity, the creativity, the pride—permeated the film stage and flowed effortlessly across generations. It inspired our young cast even as it reignited a profound sense of purpose within the original CT community. For all of us, the shoot offered a powerful glimpse of what this film can become once it enters the world, and the magnitude of that possibility left us in awe.
Completing the reenactments marks a turning point that will accelerate everything that comes next. We simply couldn’t have reached this moment without you. This journey has been long, but now we turn to 2026 towards the ultimate completion of this film!
Thank you deeply, for every bit of support, word of mouth, and follow/like/share that carried us here.
And please celebrate this milestone with us—because there is so much more on the horizon! We will share sizzling BTS, introduce our incredible team and more inspiring insights from the film shoot in the coming weeks. Stay tuned... 📸 by Lauren Camarata @lcamarasaurus
