SILA from director Ciril Jazbec is officially a finalist for Best Short Film and will premiere at the Big Sky Documentary Film Festival (@bigskydocfest) on February 13–22, 2026, the largest nonfiction film festival in the American West and an Oscar-qualifying festival. Filmed over two years in Greenland and set on an island 600 km north of the Arctic Circle, SILA is an intimate portrait of two young Inuit coming of age. Created in close collaboration with the Uummannaq Children’s Home and filmed in Greenlandic, the film explores identity, tradition, loss, and resilience, standing at the fragile edge between deep cultural roots and a rapidly changing world.
