JANE MOSELEY FOR VOGUE CZECHOSLOVAKIA
Lucian Bor, born in Zurich to an artist father and an art historian mother, both of Czech descent, at first eschewed art in what can be understood as juvenile rebellion. Later, he almost accidentally got in touch with photography which became a passionate relation right away.

The aesthetics of the female body are at the center of Lucian’s oeuvre. While in fashion photography it invokes a dream – not without ulterior commercial motives – in his artistic works, Lucian pursues the non-liable and enduring continuation of this original dream in its pure aesthetics.

His work is luminous in all senses. With his capacity of reconciling the irreconcilable he invites us to think. His woman unfolds and reveals herself in front of the objective, both strong and fragile. She is generous and gracious, a nude sensibility.

“Every woman has her own femininity. The charisma she exudes, her power of attraction, her way of seducing with sometimes little things that she does not necessarily realize. It is also a way of walking, smiling, a look, a gesture…”

Lucian’s solo exhibitions include REFLECTION (2019), PHOTOTYPES (2018), and EPHEMERE ETERNEL (2016).
EPHEMERE ETERNEL is a reference to the discrepancy of the short-lived world of fashion ("éphémère") and the timeless aesthetic of the female body ("éternel").
Selected pieces from the exhibition have been chosen by the Club des Directeurs Artistiques to be exhibited at Rencontres d'Arles in July 2016.
