Lukas was a carpenter before studying photography at FAS Berlin Photography School and at the Zürich University of Arts. He started his career in photography working as an assistant to various photographers in Milan, Zürich, and New York.

Out of the studio, Lukas shoots his series mostly outdoors, in his native mountain, in villages, in traditional cottages… He often juxtaposes luxury moments with rural, traditional, “everyday” scenes.

His first monograph “'L”, won the Swiss Design Award in 2013.
He later published “W” - Edition Patrick Frey 2018 - a book where intimate snapshots and self-portraits interleaves with pictures of arranged nature, buildings and people, home-made furniture, documentary and commercial fashion photography.
