Martin Vallin is a Swedish photographer and director whose work bridges still life and beauty. Dividing his time between Stockholm and Paris, he creates images that feel both meticulously composed and instinctively alive — poised between control and freedom.

He grew up in a small wooden house on a wide, flat plain in the middle of Sweden. At sixteen, he inherited a box of darkroom equipment — a discovery that led to nights of experimentation and his first self-developed image, a tulip in a vase, marking the start of a lifelong dialogue with light and form.

While studying philosophy, with a focus on moral and political theory, Martin continued to photograph — searching for beauty as a way to question meaning. He later pursued journalism, photography, and typography, refining his understanding of structure and narrative.

After working in a Paris magazine’s art department, Martin established his studio between Paris and Stockholm. This blend of Scandinavian restraint and Parisian sophistication shapes his work—tactile, thoughtful, and quietly timeless.

His photography explores the intersection of philosophy and aesthetics. His ongoing project En Passant consists of darkroom prints and assemblages inspired by ideas around panpsychism — a meditation on form, consciousness, and pattern.

Martin creates work for brands including Louis Vuitton, Givenchy, Cartier, Dior, Lancôme, L’Oréal Paris, MoMA, Tissot, Elizabeth Arden, Absolut Vodka and Diesel. He has just released the #2 edition - Fall/Winter 20025 - of "Flowergun", an independent magazine dedicated to personal imagery and experimental still life. Both projects merge process and philosophy, digital and analog, the seen and the felt.
