Nana Yaw Oduro graduated from the business class of the University of Ghana and started photographing in 2015. He began his creative pursuit in poetry before turning to photography, when he felt he needed to visualise his ideas.

He explores boyhood in Suburban Ghana through fictional self-portraits. He is the stage director of his own emotions during the performance of a photo shoot in which his models are like actors, playing a biographical role.

Nana Yaw employs alternatively tender, pure, and raw colour palettes in his photographs, added to a quirky use of everyday objects as accessories, in a space which is defined without being too precise. He shares how poetry and his childhood have shaped his pictorial compositions.

Nana Yaw Oduro's work has been exhibited internationally at Chazen Museum USA, Nubuké Foundation Ghana, Photo London and 1-54 Contemporary African Art Fair. In 2022 the Afikaris Gallery presented his second solo show “How I feel”.

After having contributed to many books, he finally had the opportunity to put out his very own: “LOSING IT AT HOME” (Snap Collective London, 2023). The book reflects Oduro's personal journey and the emotional landscape of life in Ghana, capturing a spectrum of overflowing emotions and experiences.
