ANOTHER MAN
Pieter Hugo, born in 1976 in Johannesburg, is a South-African photographer, recognized for capturing images of the continent’s marginalized peoples. He is passionate about revealing the truth, no matter how painful or disturbing it may be.

Pieter started taking photographs at the age of twelve but initially worked in the film industry in Cape Town, before spending two years in Italy at Fabrica, a research center for artists.

He has traveled extensively, to countries such as Ghana, Nigeria, Rwanda, and Liberia. His subjects include gang members, taxi washers, AIDS victims, albinos, and the blind. Choosing to focus on unusual groups of people, Pieter has gained an enviable following for his documentary photography.
