Artist Spotlight: Mlingani II by @muholizanele
This week’s artist spotlight features Zanele Muholi, a South African visual activist and renowned photographer whose work honors Black queer and trans lives, the urgency of visibility, and why self-validation is revolutionary.
“When you use a safety pin, it’s meant to bind whatever two pieces together, and it needs to be done with care.
So when we put each other’s hands together, regardless of how we speak as gendered humans and how we speak as people with feelings, we should make sure that we do that with safety. The person needs to feel safe and know that more than an ally, this is my sister, this is my friend, regardless of your tribe, regardless of your race, regardless of your backgrounds.” - @muholizanele
