Artist Spotlight: For London-based multi-media artist and director Jana Frost (@janafrost.art), collaging began as a way to carry along a portable window into her subconscious. Rooted in sculpture and ceramics, Jana’s creations have evolved into large-scale immersive sets. Hours of digging through digital archives, brought into the physical through the form of hundreds of printed pieces ready to be individually trimmed. The resulting built out worlds seem to entrap us in a dreamlike state as symbols of folklore and the subconscious rise to the surface. In Jana’s dream collaged world: “Time feels disorienting. Victorian relics together with modern objects, mythic creatures and symbols coexist in one seamless landscape. It feels tactile and slightly uncanny, where everything is handmade, yet nothing fully belongs to a single era. Something that feels comforting yet unsettling, but not in a scary way, more like a fever dream you’re drawn to explore.” | Milk Studios
