Selections from photographer and filmmaker Dani d’Ingeo’s (@remainsofd) debut photography book, ‘New Order.’

Arriving in London in 2016 for education, they found passion in documenting LGBTQIA+ communities around them. Mainly using 35mm compact film cameras, Dani captures the rich fabric of the queer experience from an insider point of view, the overlapping of simple mundanity, tender intimacy and nightlife.

"With this project I embarked on a symbolic trip back to the motherland I felt rejected by as a child, in order to establish a new, renovated connection with my roots by depicting queer bodies and individuals flourishing in that environment. The archived holiday imagery, all shot against the idyllic Southern Italian coast, was an attempt to honour existence outside of metropolitan settings and to expand the framework of the queer visual legacy. I believe that plural, uplifting representation offers social and political change and can empower marginalised communities. Celebrating self determination and visibility in a varied array of spaces can be a testament for the pursuit of queer happiness in any given geographical scenery."

Released and published via SMUT Press in 2022.
