I was born in Los Angeles, California as the second son of two rock 'n’ roll tour managers. My Mother and Father lived the dream as two free spirited hippies managing artists such as David Bowie, Iggy Pop, and Tina Turner. As toddlers, my brother and I carelessly explored the hills of our neighborhood in Silver Lake. Eventually, my parents left the tour managing business and we headed to the foothills outside Yosemite National Park. We settled in the all-American quaint town of Mariposa and enjoyed the peaceful countryside as our backyard.
My Mother went back to work as a production coordinator in fashion photography, working with Ralph Lauren, Calvin Klein, and Gianni Versace. My Father began a new career in architecture and designed homes and commercial buildings in and around Yosemite. As a teenager, I became interested in photography. I was inspired by my Uncle’s fashion photography and my Grandfather’s industrial and World War II photographs. Ansel Adams was the hero around Yosemite. I was drawn to the way he captured light in nature. Every summer, my family and I traveled to the beautiful island of Capri, a place my Mother called home. The island cast its spell on me and I was hooked to my camera.
I moved to New York City in 1997 after graduating from Rhode Island School of Design, double majoring in Photography and Textile Design. It's been a great ride so far, working side by side with many editorial, catalog, and advertising clients. I carry a camera wherever I go, always searching for moments to capture, either on the job or traveling with my family.
