Fashion . Portrait . Landscape
A born and raised New Yorker who recently transplanted to Los Angeles, Ryan Pfluger received his MFA in Photo, Video & Related Media from the School of Visual Arts in 2007. Constantly exploring what portraiture means presently in our culture his photographs deal with the subtlety of body posture, the gaze and how sexuality influences image making. Captivated by nostalgia, his work often deals with creating memories or memorializing objects and places. Most importantly, he allows his subjects to be present. He’s currently working on a long-term project entitled Day of The Lone Wolf in which he spends weeks at a time on the road photographing strangers throughout the US found off social media.
