From the archives.. Ms. Lauryn Hill for Woolrich’s ‘American Soul Since 1830’ campaign—her first and only fashion campaign to date. This collaboration was timed to celebrate the 20th anniversary of her groundbreaking album, The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill. This project became a creative journey unlike any other. The brand sent over 30 jackets to her residence to try on ahead of the shoot only for Lauryn Hill to completely transform them. She reimagined every single piece—incorporating vintage leathers, intricate beadwork, and screen-printed collages of her iconic album cover. As stylist Mel Ottenberg perfectly put it, “Ms. Lauryn Hill does what Ms. Lauryn Hill wants to do”—and what she created was pure magic. This campaign became more than a shoot—it was a cultural celebration, blending Woolrich’s timeless craftsmanship with the soul and genius of an artist who redefined music and style.
