The Durimel for Pop Magazine Jalan and Jibril Durimel experienced a nearly nomadic childhood. Born in Paris to French-Caribbean parents, they spent their early years on the island of Guadeloupe before moving to Miami at the age of four and then relocating to St. Maarten at twelve. It was in St. Maarten that they discovered their passion for cinema, which led them to Los Angeles at seventeen to pursue film studies. The twin brothers, who returned to Paris in 2020, draw inspiration from their diverse backgrounds, rich cultural exposure, and cinematic influences. Through their visual artistry, they aim to create a spectacle of cultural cross-pollination and explore the beauty in simplicity. Their love for photography and film is driven by a desire to celebrate the often-overlooked and intimate moments of everyday life, using the narratives of the characters they capture to tell interconnected stories from around the world.
