What began as an exploration of the wardrobe codes of the “bourgeoisie” expands into a dialogue with the legacy of Cristóbal Balenciaga himself, a presence deeply intertwined with the golden age of Hollywood and its enduring vision of glamour. Drawing inspiration from Elizabeth Taylor’s legendary love of jewelry, Lorraine Schwartz created over 1,000 carats of bespoke high jewelry pieces to accompany the collection, infusing it with brilliance and theatricality. Complementing the runway, the film Savoir-Faire Balenciaga 54th Couture, directed by Gianluca Migliarotti, offers a rare glimpse into the craftsmanship, collaboration, and artistry at the heart of Balenciaga’s 54th Couture presentation.
