Théo de Gueltzl for D la Repubblica
For the latest Travel Issue of D la Repubblica, French photographer Théo de Gueltzl ventures near the Arctic Circle to capture the raw beauty of Norway. In the North, the finest light comes during the blue hour, around three in the afternoon in the heart of winter, just before night falls. De Gueltzl seizes this fleeting glow, photographing model Théa Almqvist among dramatic fjords, black rocks, and waterways dusted with the season’s first snow. The images evoke a sense of quiet wonder, where each frame balances solitude with the grandeur of nature. Every shot reveals subtle contrasts, the dark, rugged cliffs against the soft, pale light, the still waters reflecting fleeting glimpses of sky. With each image, the photographer invites viewers to pause and linger, to feel the serene magic of the northern light and the almost tangible stillness that blankets this frozen landscape, a place where time seems to slow and the world holds its breath.
