Art . Fashion . Still life
Thomas Hauser ‘s photographic work evolved from painting. After his work took on a strongly photographic character, he began his first photographic project in 2003.
As in his painting, his photography is dominated by portraits and nudes, while in his still lifes, flowers and garments are the preferred objects of his interest.
Employing a reduced and stringent visual vocabulary, he develops his idea of female beauty literally as a confrontation, as a juxtaposition with the high resolution of large-format exposures.
In his photographs, the genre boundaries of nude, portraiture and still life are dissolving. The simple pointing gesture and the seemingly classical, sometimes disturbingly open poses of the young women reveal, in the change of concealment and exposure, the dubiousness of medially multiplied beauty ideals.
Thomas Hauser’s photographs have been exhibited in galleries and institutions in Germany, Spain, Denmark, the United Kingdom and the United States. His work has been featured in books, magazines and blogs.
He was first invited to work for a fashion magazine in 2015, since then his editorials and portraits have been published in numerous international publications such as:
Numéro Berlin, Novembre, Another Man, Numéro Homme, Hearts, Pylot, Alla Carta, Dapper Dan, Carpark, Edicola, Revue, Heroine, Ansinth, 10 Magazine, L’Officiel Hommes Germany, Dansk, Wallpaper, Violet, Lula
