Artist Spotlight: @paddypikestudio ‘s Arnardo Collection emerges from lumps of virtual clay, distorted and molded into creature like silhouettes that foreground how emergent technologies are reshaping the sculptural language of contemporary furniture. Named after an anagram of Ron Arad, the series echoes Arad’s playful manipulation of industrial steel while bringing its explorations into the meta realm.
Beginning in VR, Pike maneuvers around the forms as if they were physical, then creating visualizations through 3D rendering, AI image generation, and Photoshop. The resulting digital studies become the blueprint for fabricating polished stainless steel.
“The lamp with its twin giraffe-like necks, the desk standing solid on elephantine bases, the cabinet short and round like a resting hippo – The Arnardo Collection has given me the confidence to work with stainless steel in a way that challenges both myself and the material. I enjoy being pushed out of my comfort zone, but I also like to push the material beyond its own conventions, asking it to be fluid, playful, and alive.”
