Artist Spotlight: From Pokémon Snap on a Nintendo 64 to the stuffed animals in her room to the local punk bands in Atlanta, Yana’s earliest instinct was always to stay close, pay attention, honor what’s in front of her. The unseen part of her process lives in the bonds she builds with her subjects long before the camera comes up. That led her to @dijondijon_ After growing close from working together on ‘One Battle After Another,’ she asked to join him and crew on tour. New setlists, new arrangements, a unique energy each night, and the team’s constant experimentation give her permission to do the same. Between ginger shots, failed nap attempts, and late nights on the bus, a family formed. Dice games, music spilling into early mornings, moments that don’t outwardly announce themselves. Yana catches them anyway.
