For Volume 26 of Creative Counts, we pulled up to @schmuck.ny , NYC’s cult-favorite bar, to speak with co-founder Moe Aljaff on building life around the act of making. Anchored on the southwest corner of East 6th Street, the bar has become a site for creative exchange, but it’s only one facet in Moe’s larger practice. Working across photography, video, spatial design, and storytelling, Moe approaches creativity as a constant state of motion. Whether documenting the bar’s progress day-to-day or varnishing its stools by hand, his practice is driven less by outcome and more by process. In conversation, Moe reflects on creative crossover, learning through collaboration, and the ways he’s intentionally shaped his life to roadmap towards creativity.
