In ‘Anima,’ Paris-based documentary photographer Mathieu Richer Mamousse (@mathieu_richer_mamousse) embarked on the quest to grasp the universal splendor of devotion. Across faiths, processions, and sacred parades, the work captures the moment men and women from around the world unite into a single cortege of believers, where chants, movement, and attire transform ritual into one shared prayer. “Anima began with something I couldn’t quite name, the pull of watching people inhabit their faith so completely. But I became equally drawn to how they chose to present themselves within it: the deliberate way one wears a garment, the care taken to appear a certain way before something sacred. These clothes are not costumes, they are the living form of tradition, shaped by centuries of collective devotion.” | Milk Studios
