Our last conversation with @daveedbaptiste was in 2023, days before his first solo exhibition at @mocada_museum and during his residency at @silverartprojects His second collection, Soaring High explores the metamorphosis of a Haitian immigrant boy navigating the stages of life within urban Black American society. The work has traveled from museums to galleries and returned home to Brooklyn this past NYFW for a free fashion show at Brooklyn Borough Hall, hosted by @kidsuper and @bkbpreynoso This short film serves as a recap and memento of that historic night. “This show exemplified and set the stage for what future runways could look like throughout the industry — for the people, public, and free.
