Born in Kingston, Jamaica in 1997, Amber Pinkerton is a London based photographer and filmmaker. Amber’s photography is a reflection and examination of Black identity.

In order to realise this, however, she had to go back to Kingston, where the presiding culture projected images of white bodies and Eurocentric aspirations to its Black majority population.

Amber's images document the beauty of life in Jamaica with a rich definition of colour. The profound hues which make up Amber’s signature palette – specific blacks and blues as well as reds – are emblematic of the photographer’s birth country.

Amber has been featured in The New York Times Style Magazine's list of '15 Creative Women for Our Time' and in the 2020 British Fashion Council's New Wave: Creatives List. She was listed in the Dazed 100 rankings (2020) as well as i-D's ‘Photographers to follow in 2020’ and ‘My Year in Photos’.
